ST. PAUL, MN (March 13, 2008) – On a night that would make Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly and Jerry the Mouse proud, the Saints highlight their 2008 promotional calendar with a tribute to National Tap Dance Day.
On Sunday, May 25 the first 2500 fans through the gates at Midway Stadium will receive a Saints bobble foot in honor of National Tap Dance Day and in tribute to all their toe-tapping friends and fans from around the nation who may ever have set foot in Minneapolis-St. Paul… even for just a change of planes. The one-of-a-kind collector’s item depicts a restroom stall and a bobble foot peaking out from underneath.
The 48 home games, and the 2008 American Association All-Star Game presented by Medica, provide the Saints and their fans with plenty of opportunities for everything from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Prince, a.k.a the Artist Formerly known as Prince or to some, just a Glyph, turns 50 and the Saints will celebrate the event with Purple Game presented by Avis Rent A Car on Saturday, June 7.
On Wednesday, July 23, the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a Pine Tar Mini-Bat in honor of the 25th Anniversary of George Brett’s historic non-homerun at Yankee Stadium.
The Saints affinity for mimes is no secret, so it’s only fitting that with the passing of Marcel Marceau last September, the Saints will hold “A Moment of Noise,” in tribute on Saturday, May 24.
The Bud Selig Retirement Party is scheduled for July 15th, but may be extended and/or renegotiated without notice. The Saints will honor one of their favorite inspirational sources with a retirement party befitting the former…er…. current commissioner.
Fan-favorite ushertainer, Super Fan, will have his popular headband and wristbands given away to the first 2,500 fans on Saturday, July 5.
The Saints also will host four fireworks spectaculars on Sunday, May 25, Friday, July 4, Tuesday, July 22nd following the American Association All-Star Game and Fan Appreciation Night, Wednesday, August 20.
