ST. PAUL BASEBALL HISTORY

American Association (1902-1960)
- Served as a farm club for the Yankees, Cardinals and Dodgers in that time period
- Played games at Lexington Park (1902-56) and at “old” Midway Stadium (1957-60)
- Famous names who played here include: Leo Durocher (Hall of Fame manager), Miller Huggins (later managed Babe Ruth), Lefty Gomez (famous Yankees P), Roy Campanella (Dodgers C for a decade until hurt in car accident), Gene Mauch (future Twins manager) and Bill Sharman (later a NBA All-Star). Walter Alston (also in Hall of Fame) managed here in 1948. Later, managed the Dodgers from 1954-76, winning four World Series titles.
- Wayne Terwilliger played here in 1952
- Had major rivalry with Minneapolis Millers. Played holiday DHs against them (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) that featured morning game in one city and an afternoon game in the other.
- Famous Millers included Hall of Famers Ted Williams (1939), Ray Dandridge, Willie Mays (1951) and Carl Yastrzemski (1959)
- Both teams left town after 1960 season to make way for Minnesota Twins in American League

Current History (1993-present)
- Was one of six charter members of “new” Northern League before moving to American Association after 2005 season
- Won four championships in NL (1993, 1995, 1996, 2004)
- 1993 team had five players who eventually played in major leagues
- 81 players had had their contracts sold to major league organizations
- 15 former Saints have played in the major leagues (four are currently active).
- Some famous ex-Saints: Darryl Strawberry, Leon Durham, Jack Morris, Dwight Smith, Dan Peltier, Glenn Davis and Doug Dascenzo
- Current Toronto bullpen coach Bruce Walton is also an ex-Saint
- Ila Borders, first female pro pitcher ever, pitched here in 1997
- Team has advanced to the postseason 10 of its 14 seasons in existence
- Has been either first or second in attendance in every year of their existence
- Once sold out 249 consecutive dates – average 98 per cent capacity for all regular season games played at Midway Stadium
- Has drawn nearly 4,000,000 fans to games in St. Paul
- Every regular and post-season home game in the team’s history ever played has been televised locally – no other professional baseball franchise can make this claim
- Main ownership group (Marv, Mike, Bill Murray) has not changed since team first took field
