Former Contestant On "The Voice," Tim Mahoney, To Play Concert Following Saints September 2 GameST. PAUL, MN August 22, 2013
ST. PAUL, MN (August 22, 2013) – The St. Paul Saints roster is full of young men who are applying their trade each and every day just hoping to catch a big break. Minneapolis based singer/songwriter Tim Mahoney knows exactly what that feels like. Mahoney caught his big break back in 2011 when he appeared on the popular television singing competition “The Voice”. With the help of White Bear Mitsubishi and Volkswagen of Inver Grove, the Saints will welcome Mahoney to Midway Stadium to sing some of his most popular songs after the Saints final regular season game.
Following the Saints 1:05 p.m. game on Monday, September 2 against the Sioux City Explorers fans will be able to enjoy Tim Mahoney’s Food Drive Concert. Fans are encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item to donate to charity prior to the concert. A ticket to the Saints game that afternoon will get fans into the concert where they can enjoy $1 beers all game long on Buck Beer Monday. While enjoying Mahoney’s music, fans will also have plenty of great food options to choose from as there will be a Food Truck Festival on the field. Some of the Twin Cities best street food vendors will be on site, including Motley Crews, Tiki Tim’s, AZ Canteen, Marie Antoinette Crepes, R.A. MacSammy’s, and Messy Giuseppe.
Mahoney, who has been in the music business for over 15 years, has sold over 100,000 units of his various releases as a solo artist and with his former band, The Blue Meenies. He was included as part of Target’s Emerging Artist Program in 2007 which made his album “Stay/Leave” the first ever record from an unsigned artist to be sold in Target stores. That year Mahoney was also featured in Rolling Stone Magazine for winning a Ray-Ban promotion when his composition “Theme Song” beat out thousands of other entries to win the Never Hide Music Contest. As a result of receiving that award he was able to play at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas as part of the 40th anniversary celebration of Rolling Stone Magazine.
In 2011, Mahoney and his song, “Piece of You,” were featured in a commercial for Plato’s Closet that ran in 40 markets around the nation. That set the stage for the biggest break of his career when he was chosen by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine to become part of his team on the first season of “The Voice”. Although Mahoney was eventually eliminated in the show’s battle-round, he received national exposure and his duet of “Leather and Lace” with fellow competitor Casey Weston reached as high as #32 on the iTunes singles chart.
