MARK YOUR CALENDAR, SAINTS TO OPEN CHS FIELD ON MAY 21

ST. PAUL, MN (October 29, 2014) – Same quirky team.  Brand new address.  And now the St. Paul Saints know exactly when they will play their first game at CHS Field in 2015.  The crazy between inning promotions, the unique theme nights, Karaoke With A Real Japanese Guy and all the family entertainment will head to the corner of 5th and Broadway on Thursday, May 21 as the Saints kick off their inaugural season in Lowertown.

The pageantry of opening day will be unlike any in Saints history since their very first home game in 1993.  The first regular season game will take place on Thursday, May 21 at 7:05 p.m. against their North Division rival, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.  The opening homestand is a four game series against the RedHawks and concludes on Sunday, May 24.  Not only will the Saints open at CHS Field, but they will close out the 2015 season at home from September 1-7.

The four game opening homestand is the shortest of the season and the Saints will have a total of eight homestands.  There are four six-game homestands, two seven-game homestands and an eight game homestand.  The last time the Saints had a scheduled eight game homestand was in 2012.

While the Saints won’t travel east this season, their longest roadtrip of 2015 will take them down south.  From Monday, May 26-June 3 the club will look to Mess With Texas as they embark on a nine-game, 11-day, three city roadtrip that will take them to Amarillo, Laredo and Grand Prairie.  The Saints will travel a shade over 10,000 miles during the 2015 season.

In all 25 of the 50 Saints home games will take place Friday-Sunday with four home games in May, 12 in June, 15 in July, 12 in August and seven in September.  The Saints will remain with the traditional 7:05 p.m. game time on Monday-Saturday, but Sunday game times will now be at 5:05 p.m.  All promotions, fireworks nights and weekday afternoon games will be announced at a later date.

The American Association added a 13th team this season, the Joplin Blasters who will play at Joe Becker field in Joplin, MO.  The league will continue to be three divisions with the North, Central and South.  The North is comprised of the Saints, Fargo-Moorhead (ND) RedHawks, Sioux Falls (SD) Canaries and Winnipeg Goldeyes.  The Central Division has the Gary SouthShore (IN) Railcats, Kansas City (KS) T-Bones, Lincoln (NE) Saltdogs and Sioux City (IA) Explorers.  The South Division will have the Amarillo (TX) Sox, Grand Prairie (TX) AirHogs, Joplin (MO) Blasters, Laredo (TX) Lemurs and Wichita (KS) Wingnuts.  The American Association will once again join with the five team Can-Am League to make up the 100 game schedule.  This is the first time since the leagues merged four seasons ago that the Saints will not travel east.  The Saints will play a four game series, at CHS Field, against a Cam-Am League team in July and a three game series to finish off the season in September.  The Can-Am League schedule will be announced at a later date.  The Can-Am League is made up of the New Jersey Jackals, a new team in Ottawa named the Champions, Quebec Capitales, Rockland (NY) Boulders and Trois Rivieres Aigles,

For the fifth consecutive year the season will be a continuous schedule, with no halves, and the playoffs will consist of the three division winners and a wild card team, which is the club with the best overall record among the non-division winners.

The Saints will play a total of 42 games within their own division (20 home, 22 away), 33 against the Central (20 home, 13 away), 18 against the South (3 home, 15 away) and seven games against the Can-Am League, all at home.

Group and specialty seating tickets will go on sale in December while single game tickets will go on sale in March.  Season tickets are currently available for CHS Field.  For more information contact the Saints ticket office at 651-644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com.
