One Final Purple Game

ST. PAUL, MN April 22, 2016

He was and will forever be a Minnesotan.  Through his music he eloquently conveyed the humble values of what we stand for while at the same time fighting for the greater cause.  Simply put he was a legend and for one final time the St. Paul Saints will honor the man simply known as Prince with one last Purple Game.

On Sunday, May 29 the Saints will bring back a promotion they have done two others times, in 2008 and again in 2014, as a way to pay tribute to the legendary singer.  The Saints will recreate those two magical nights as players will don special Purple jersey’s that evening.  Along with the color change the numbers on the back of the uniforms will be replaced by the corresponding symbol one would find on a keyboard.  The uniforms will be auctioned off at the end of the night and all proceeds will be donated to the Elevate Hope Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing abused and abandoned children an alternative method of therapy through music and the arts.  The program was started by Sheila E. and Prince was one of the early supporters of the program.

Along with the special uniforms, the entire night will feature Prince songs, including an already scheduled Post Game Fireworks Super Show which will be accompanied by Prince songs. Also, all the fireworks will be the color Purple.

In 2008 the Saints did their first Purple Game in honor of Prince turning 50 During the final season at Midway, in 2014, the Saints brought back their most popular promotions from 1993-2013 and the Purple Game was one fans wanted to see again.  This final Purple Game will honor the life, music and passion of one of the greatest performers of our generation.
