Getting to CHS Field

Passion and Pride As the Saints Return Home June 7-13

ST. PAUL, MN June 6, 2019

Home sweet home.  After nine games in 11 days on the road the comforts of home should make the fans, and players, beam with pride.  There is so much passion during the upcoming six games that when you bring up going to a Saints game to your kids, they won’t tune you out and think you’re saying, “Wah wa wa Wah wa wa.”  We’ll make you aware of how square your life has been without the Saints during the past week and a half.  So, bring the family, friends, and co-workers because the Saints are back in town from June 7-13.

Friday, June 7, 7:05 p.m. – Peanuts Celebration presented by Valleyfair with Xcel Energy Friday Night Fireworks

We’re rolling out a different starting nine tonight.  With Charlie Brown on the mound, Snoopy captaining the infield at shortstop and Lucy being more than just a potted plant out in right field.  Sure, these lovable characters didn’t win much on the diamond, but they always won in our hearts.  Show them the love during our Peanuts Celebration presented by Valleyfair.  Rock out before the game with the always entertaining Jelly of the Month Club and find your favorite Peanuts Character for a great photo op during the night.  Following the game stick around for the Xcel Energy Friday Night Fireworks set to the music of the Jelly of the Month Club.

Saturday, June 8, 7:05 p.m. – 50th Anniversary of Sesame Street and Pride Night

1, 2, 3…three strikes you’re out AH AH AH.  One of the most inclusive TV shows meets one of the more important inclusive events of the year as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Sesame Street and Pride Night.  Bring your rubber duckie and make sure you have enough room to down a plateful of cookies, but this is no night for a grouch.  We’ll honor the LGBTQ+ community as the Saints have become a part of this important annual tradition where the community comes together to commemorate their diverse heritage, foster inclusion, educate and create awareness of issues, and celebrate achievements in equality.  This is the pre-party to the big bash that will go on June 22-23.  Everything from sporting events, to picnics, to the parade at Second Avenue South.  This is a perfect day to wear your rainbow-colored Hawaiian polos during Treasure Island Resort and Casino Saturday.

Sunday, June 9, 5:05 p.m. – Prostate Cancer Awareness Night presented by Minnesota Urology Foundation

You know us.  We’ll have fun with an awkward topic, especially if it brings awareness.  Don’t be embarrassed in talking about the prostate because chances are you know someone who is dealing with an issue when it comes to this gland.  We’ll give you all the information you need to know on Prostate Cancer Awareness Night presented by Minnesota Urology Foundation.  More than 3,000,000 men are living with prostate cancer, but it can be cured if caught early.  Age, race, and family history are all factors in your risk of getting it.  Maybe, just maybe, our GM Derek Sharrer will bend over and sing “Moon River.”  Following the game kids run the bases and get autographs from the entire team on Cub Family Sunday.

Tuesday, June 11, 7:05 p.m. – Larry Doby Passion for the Community presented by Enbridge

This has become one of the more important nights celebrated each year as the Saints honor the first African American to break the color barrier in the American League on Larry Doby Night presented by Enbridge.  Our owner Mike Veeck’s father, Bill, was the man that signed Doby to his first contract with the Cleveland Indians.  Just three months after Jackie Robinson broke baseball’s color barrier, Doby became the first player to go directly from the Negro Leagues to the Major Leagues.  Doby would later serve as the second African American manager in the Majors.  He was selected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1998.  The Saints and RedHawks will wear special Negro League uniforms with the Saints donning the garb of the Newark Eagles, the 1946 Negro League championship team that featured Doby, while the RedHawks will wear the uniforms of the Homestead Grays.  Get ready for take off on Sun Country Travel Tuesday.

Wednesday, June 12, 1:05 p.m. – 20th Anniversary of SpongeBob Squarepants

Join us for underwater adventures in Bikini Bottom.  You aren’t required to wear a bikini top or bottom, but you can definitely catch some rays during the afternoon matinee.  You bring out your friends and we’ll honor ours like Patrick, Mr. Krabs, and Squidward.  We all know that SpongeBob is an eccentric character, but did you know his personality is the combination of Jerry Lewis, Pee-Wee Herman, and Stan Laurel.  We won’t be pulling your leg, but we may introduce you to My Leg.  Make sure you stop off at the Krusty Krab for some delicious Krabby Patties.  If that doesn’t satiate the appetite, then the craziest tailgate party of the year surely will with our Walser Wednesday.

Thursday, June 13, 7:05 p.m. – “Ope!  It’s Talk Minnesota To Me presented by Cub

We’re considered friendly folks.  Don’t want to cause too much of a ruckus.  If you get in our way we might say, “Scuse Me,” or if we want to get around you we might interject, “Just gonna sneak behind ya quick.”  We’ll throw it all out there on Talk Minnesota To Me presented by Cub.  Whether it’s an agreeable, “You Betcha,” or the occasional, “Dontcha Know” we’re speaking your language tonight.  What better way to enjoy a friendly Minnesota conversation than with Thirsty Thursday presented by North Hennepin Community College a member of Minnesota State.

You’ve waited a long time for the Saints to return back home, but it’s all worth it.  No need to be krabby or grouchy because it’s all rainbows for the next week.  Is this going to be the most fun you’ve ever had?  You betcha.  So bend over, take a seat, not even a blockhead can ruin this good time.  The Saints are here to entertain you.
