RAIN HALTS SAINTS FINAL EXHIBITION GAME IN FOURTH, SEASON BEGINS MAY 15

SIOUX FALLS, SD (May 12, 2014) – The St. Paul Saints wrapped up exhibition play on Monday morning against the Sioux Falls Canaries.  The rain shortened game was called with the Saints leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth at Sioux Falls Stadium.

The Saints scored the lone run of the game in the first inning when Buddy Sosnoskie walked with one out and scored on an Angelo Songco two-out double.  That was the lone hit the Saints would record in their 3.2 innings at the plate against lefty Joe Bircher.

Left-hander Cole Nelson worked 3.0 innings for the Saints and gave up just two hits, a lead-off single to Brandon Jones in the second and a lead-off single to Dallas Tarleton in the third.  Nelson fanned four.

The Saints will work out at Midway Stadium on Tuesday at 12:00 p.m.  The team will be introduced at the World’s Largest Game of Catch on Robert St. between 6th St. and 7th Place in Downtown Saint Paul on Wednesday beginning at 11:30.  They will then work out at Midway Stadium at 2:00 p.m., following the World’s Largest Game of Catch.

The Saints open the 2014 regular season on Thursday, May 15 at 7:05 p.m. against the defending American Association Champion Gary SouthShore Railcats.  The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a 2014 magnet schedule presented by Mississippi Market.
