ST. PAUL, MN (June 7, 2012) – After the longest roadtrip of the season the St. Paul Saints promotions staff has a lot of pent up creative ideas waiting to bust out. The upcoming homestand will bring out their inner animal, whether you like to monkee around or quack like a duck. It’s always a party at Midway even if we have to create a celebration like June-toberfest. Leave the cars at home and bike to the ballpark because it will keep you healthy and our friends at Regions Hospital will appreciate that. For those that need to indulge, we have tasty treats, but don’t worry if you clog our toilets, because we have that covered too. This homestand will leave your head spinning from so much fun.
It all kicks off with a three game series with the Sioux Falls Pheasants from June 8-10. On Friday, June 8 the 7:05 p.m. game is Take Me to Regions Night presented by Regions Hospital. Fans will receive a complimentary pair of shades which is perfect for all those people sitting on the right field side of the ballpark. The stylish sunglasses will come in handy for the bright lights following the game during our Xcel Energy Friday Night Fireworks show.
On Saturday, June 9 at 7:05 p;m. it’s the first ever Saints Craft Beer and Baseball Festival during June-toberfest. Minnesota is known for some of the finest breweries in the country and many of them will participate. Those set to bring out their finest brews are Boom Island Brewing, Flat Earth Brewing, Summit Brewing, Vine Park Brewing, Granite City Brewing, Brau Brothers Brewing, Lift Bridge Brewing, Mankato Brewing, Schell’s Brewing Company and Finnegans. The Saints beer festival will cap off with a special appearance from a member of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard and star of the movie Beerfest, Erik Stolhanske, who will be signing autographs and taking photos with festival-goers. Also study up for Success Saturdays presented by University of Wisconsin – River Falls.
The series against the Pheasants rounds out with a 1:05 p.m. contest on Sunday, June 10. The official start of summer is just around the corner, but the weather outside has been perfect for a bike ride, so why not dust off that Schwinn or Mongoose and trek out to the ballpark on Bike to the Ballpark Day presented by Whole Foods. Whether you’re coming from St. Paul or Minneapolis a bike ride will get the blood pumping. Those Saints fans living in cities just a little further away there are no excuses. Just think about those Tour de France riders biking in the Alps. Following the game kids run the bases and get autographs from the entire team on Family Sunday.
One of the Saints fiercest rivals the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks come to town from June 11-13. On Monday, June 11 at 7:05 p.m. we wonder “How Dost Thou Use a Plunger?” during our toilet paper drive presented by Innovative Office Solutions. Whether you use a plunger in its more traditional role to unclog a toilet or sink or are more creative and use it to poke people, open the refrigerator or put it on your head and wear it as a hat, then this is the day for you. Bring a roll of toilet paper or other office products to the ballpark and they will be donated to Second Harvest Heartland. It’s also BUZ’N Buck Beer Night with $1 beers.
We’ll line up in the Flying V on Tuesday, June 12 at 7:05 p.m. as we salute the 20th Anniversary of the movie The Mighty Ducks. Just like the Mighty Ducks the Saints will go out and try to kick some Hawk butt. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate the day including all you “Cake Eaters.” Fans will have a chance to walk away with their very own autographed game-worn jersey with the Saints Ducks and Hawks jersey auction. During the game fans will have a chance to win up to $77,777 during St. Croix Casino Big Money Tuesday.
The final day of the homestand is an afternoon affair on Wednesday, June 13 at 1:05 p.m. and “Hey, Hey We’re the Monkees.” It’s Thumbs Up to Opposable Thumbs on Monkee Around Day…A Tribute to the Monkees presented by Sun Drop Citrus Soda. We will all be Believers on this day as the final game of the homestand is a Steppin’ Stone for the rest of the season. Make sure you join us early for the craziest tailgate party of the year on Walser Wednesdays.
Summertime is nearly here, but the Saints are already heating up. This homestand has something for animal lovers, health nuts, and those that like beer. Join the Saints for a wild week of fun.
