April 30, 2012 at 3:42 PM

ST. PAUL, MN (April 27, 2012) - Let the competition begin and may the best girl and boy win.  The annual Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run Competition is underway and the St. Paul Saints are once again involved.

On Saturday, May 12, Midway Stadium, home of the Saints, will host a local pitch, hit and run competition.  The contest is open to boys and girls 7-14 years of age with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. and the competition starting promptly at 8:00 a.m.  Winners will advance to the sectional round, which will also be held at Midway Stadium.

The Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run contest is free of charge and boys and girls will compete separately with the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition: Locals, Sectionals, Team Championships and the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game held in Kansas City in July.  There are four separate age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14.

Participation in the May 12 event includes a pre-game on-field ceremony and one free general admission ticket to the St. Paul Saints vs. Gary South Shore RailCats game the following Saturday, May 19.  A parent or guardian and a valid birth certificate are required at the time of participation.

The individual champions in each category (pitching, hitting and running), along with the all-around champion in each age group at the Local Competition will advance to the Sectional Round.

For more information and to sign up for the Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run Contest contact the St. Paul Saints at 651-644-6659 or visit saintsbaseball.com.
