ST. PAUL, MN (May 6, 2015) – Anytime you can sign a player with big league time you jump at the opportunity. The St. Paul Saints did that with their most recent signing, inking former Major League left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez.
The 26-year-old Hernandez brings 16 games of Major League experience to the Saints, 14 of those games came with the Twins back in 2013. He is 3-5 with a 7.33 ERA in 16 games (14 starts). In 66.1 innings pitched he walked 26 and struck out 33.

Hernandez moved swiftly through the organization reaching Triple-A Tucson in 2011. On January 1, 2012 he was traded to the Chicago White Sox along with RHP Simon Castro in exchange for outfielder Carlos Quentin. Hernandez made his Major League debut on July 18, 2012 allowing eight runs in 4.0 innings in a start against the Boston Red Sox. Hernandez gave up three home runs, two to Cody Ross and one to Adrian Gonzalez.
On July 28 Hernandez was traded along with infielder Eduardo Escobar to the Twins in exchange for LHP Francisco Liriano.

In all, Hernandez pitched 14 games (12 starts) with the Twins during the season and went 3-3 with a 6.83 ERA. In 56.2 innings pitched he walked 23 and struck out 29. Following the season Hernandez was granted free agency and signed with the Rockies.
