Getting to CHS Field

Saints NCAA Tournament Promotion Nets One Lucky Fan $10,000, Live Drawing March 20 At 1 p.m. Central On Social Media

ST. PAUL, MN March 16, 2018

The St. Paul Saints have come up with some of the craziest, most insane ideas in all of minor league baseball.  Their most recent one looked like a sure bet to be another publicity stunt.  In the end, one lucky Saints fan will walk away with $10,000 as a result of the #16 seeded University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s dominating performance over #1 seeded Virginia Cavaliers.

The live drawing of the $10,000 winner, selected from more than 10,000 people who retweeted the Saints tweet promoting the contest, will take place live on Tuesday, March 20 at 1 p.m. central time via Facebook Live on the Saints Facebook page at facebook.com/stpaulsaints and via Periscope on the Saints Twitter account at @stpaulsaints.

After the NCAA Men’s Basketball brackets came out Sunday night, the Saints had another unbelievable promotional idea.  Give away $10,000 if any of the #16 seeds knocked off a #1 seed, something that had never been done before in 128 tries entering the 2018 tournament.  The Saints sent out a tweet Monday morning, “We don't have a billion dollars like @WarrenBuffett, but our GM @DerekSharrer has officially gone mad. The Saints will give away $10,000 if a 16 seed beats a 1 seed in #MarchMadness2018. All you have to do is retweet this to enter & we'll choose one winner if it happens.”  The retweets came fast and furious and by the time the tournament started more than 6,000 people had retweeted the post and continued to climb throughout the tournament.

“Someone on our staff, who shall remain nameless, brought this idea to me and said it was a foolproof promotion,” said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Derek Sharrer.  “Now, thanks to this former staff member, I mean, this creative genius, we are going to make someone’s day by giving them $10,000.  We’re all about family affordable fun with the Saints and the winner will be able to bring a lot of families to CHS Field this season.”
