Saints Players and Coaches To Serve Troops At Rivercentre on Saturday

ST. PAUL, MN May 16, 2014

ST. PAUL, MN (May 16, 2014) – The St. Paul Saints organization donates their time and efforts to many worthy causes.  One of the areas that is near and dear to the heart of the ballclub is the military.  On Saturday, May 17 Saints players and coaches will spend time at a great event, Serving Our Troops.

The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Rivercentre’s Lower Rotunda.  The players and coaches will wear Serving Our Troops aprons and act as greeters, serve food and beverages and bus tables.  The ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon starting at 12:30 p.m.

During the 22 year history of the Saints they have held annual 4th of July celebrations honoring military members as well as Women in the Military, the Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, Minnesotan’s in the Military and Military Mom’s.

Saints players also took a flight in a Blackhawk helicopter and hosted a baseball camp at a local military base.

Serving Our Troops is dedicated to showing the Minnesota National Guard members and their families, as well other troops from across the nation, that people appreciate their brave service to our country. Volunteers show this appreciation by bringing them just a bit of Minnesota – both stateside and overseas – a delicious steak dinner with the family.

Serving Our Troops was formed by a group of community and business leaders with a common interest in supporting those who put themselves in harm's way so that we may enjoy all that is great about our Country.

Since 2004, the Serving Our Troops team has been sending a special message for our soldiers and families in the form of a 12 ounce steak from home.  Cooked by the Serving Our Troops team for soldiers and families at home and overseas, Serving Our Troops projects bring families together via live international video for a simple message – dinner with the family.   After nine projects and over 75,000 steaks, our message of support has resonated in Minnesota communities, across the Country, and around the globe.
