Saints Running of the Pigs Event Post Race Recap

ST. PAUL, MN April 26, 2014

SAINTS RUNNING OF THE PIGS EVENT A HUGE SUCCESS

On a 40 degree morning in St. Paul the Saints held their annual Running of the Pigs 5K/Zer0K race at Midway Stadium.  With more than 150 runners in attendance the event kicked off with the Kids Fun Run and Mascot Trot at 9:00 a.m.  After one lap around the warning track each of the kids crossed the finish line with a smile on their faces and the mascots waiting to greet them.

An event that is becoming more popular each year, the original Zer0K took place at 9:25 a.m.  With nearly 50 participants lined up at the start/finish line, some with adult beverages in hand, there were no pulled hamstrings or sore bodies to report.

Finally, the 5K event took place after a 15 minute train delay, as a train was stopped on the railroad tracks on the course.  The top three men and women each received a gift card courtesy of Scheels.  The top man was Scott Beitz who finished in a time of 21:48.  The top female runner was Diane Combites with a time of 23:30.
