SAINTS TEAM UP WITH KILLEBREW ROOT BEER AND NORTH LAKE BREWING FOR TOWNBALL GAME IN ANOKA
ST. PAUL, MN (February 18, 2014) – Crazy costumes and outfits are a large part of the fun and entertainment the St. Paul Saints have provided during their first 21 seasons. It’s only fitting then, that the Saints are taking their 2014 barnstorming game to a city that is believed to be the first in the United States to put on a Halloween celebration, Anoka. The Saints, in conjunction with Killebrew Root Beer and North Lake Brewing, will play an exhibition game to help promote and raise money for the northern suburb city of the Twin Cities.
For the seventh consecutive season the Saints will play an exhibition game in a neighboring Minnesota city on a field known for its townball teams. On Saturday, May 10 at 3:00 p.m. the Saints will take on the Anoka Bucs/Metro-Minny All-Stars at Castle Field in Anoka, MN presented by Killebrew Root Beer and North Lake Brewing. The field is located at 4001 7th Ave. in Anoka. The All-Star team will consist of the best players in the league from 10 different teams (Blaine, Coon Rapids, East Bethel, Big Lake, Forest Lake, Champlin, St. Francis, Hamel, Isanti and Ramsey).
“Killebrew Root Beer is a proud partner of the St. Paul Saints baseball organization and is pleased to work with the City of Anoka as we work toward the completion of the ‘new Castle Field’ project,” said RJM President of RJM Distributing, Jim Lundeen. “Having founded the Anoka Bucs town team back in 1980, it is exciting to see the abilities of the current team, with my only regret being I’m too old to play.”
Gates open at noon with batting practice for the two teams going from 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Kids in attendance will be allowed to stretch on the field with the Saints players. A home run hitting contest between the two teams will take place at 1:50 p.m. and the nine inning contest begins promptly at 3:00 p.m.
The game against the Anoka Bucs/Metro-Minny All-Stars will help raise money for their field, concessions and restroom facilities. During the game there will be a raffle, prizes given away, a silent auction and activities for the kids.
Tickets for this special exhibition game are $7 in advance and $10 at the gate and can be purchased by calling 763-576-2980, on line at www.ci.anoka.mn.us or at Anoka City Hall, 2015 1st Ave. No., Anoka.
