Securian Presents The Saint Paul Super Slide, Two Weeks of Winter Fun at CHS Field

ST. PAUL, MN January 16, 2018

The St. Paul Saints are no stranger to holding events in their ballpark during the winter.  They have held concerts, tailgating and winter baseball games in the frigid month of January.  For the first time in the three years of CHS Field the Saints will open their gates during the hibernation season for a two-week event for the whole family.  Securian presents the Saint Paul Super Slide and a Minnesota favorite, an ice fishing pond, will entertain the young and young at heart.

From January 25-February 10 the Lowertown area will welcome Minnesotans, and visitors from around the globe, descending upon Minnesota for Super Bowl LII. When they arrive at CHS Field one of the wildest rides in the Twin Cities will be awaiting.  The Super Slide is a snow slide that begins from the second story patio of the Securian Club where riders will plunge 40 feet down in an innertube over the seating bowl, and glide 130 feet as they “slide” onto the infield dirt (or in this case snow).  The slide was built by two Twin Cities Metro companies, TDB Builders, out of Saint Paul, and Stephen Donnelly Company, based out of Edina.  Afton Alps will provide snow to supplement what the Saints, and Mother Nature, create for the event.

The Super Slide is open Tuesday-Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m.  Tickets go on sale Friday, January 19 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and are $10 for adults and $5 for kids.  Tickets are good for unlimited rides during the one-hour time slot purchased.  They can be purchased by going to stpaulsuperslide.com, in person at the box office, or by calling 651-644-6659.  The Super Slide is open to 100 riders an hour and patrons will select the specific day and hour upon purchasing tickets.

“Securian is proud to continue its partnership with the Saints as the title sponsor of the Saint Paul Super Slide,” said Chris Hilger, Chairman and CEO of Securian Financial Group.  “For 138 years, Securian has supported community events in and around the Twin Cities.  The Super Slide will be a fun, family-friendly activity for all in our community to enjoy…..outside in the Bold North!”

In addition to the Super Slide, those that enjoy the more laid-back approach of a Minnesota winter pastime can head over to the left field concourse where patrons can partake in an Ice Fishing Trout Experience.  The man-made pond is 24’ long and 16’ high with more than 150 pounds of rainbow trout swimming around.  The pond is covered with plexiglass “ice” and approximately 15-18 people can fish at one time.  Poles and bait are provided, and any fish caught can be taken home.

The Ice Fishing Trout Experience is open from Saturday, January 27 – Saturday, February 3 with the same hours as the Securian Super Slide.  It’s $5 for 10 minutes of fishing and can only be purchased at the ballpark.

Entrance to the ballpark is free and those in attendance can also head down onto the field and play in the snow, build snowmen, throw snowballs and enjoy the winter wonderland.

CHS Field will feature outdoor warming zones with concession stands open throughout the festivities.
